Summer Music Festivals!!

Two summers ago, it was a warm June day and the sky was a radiant purple. I was lying in the grass gazing towards the Toronto skyline when Stars took the stage. My socks were proverbially rocked. Things were never the same, food tasted better, sunlight felt warmer, music was always sweeter. And then Ben Gibbard hopped up on stage and my socks were rocked ever harder. Since that day, no concert or festival has compared.

This summer promises to blow some minds. Summer festivals in general have legendary line-ups. Unfortunately, we’re just too far from California to head to Coachella, but we’ve still got Osheaga, the Olympic Island Festival, the Warped Tour, Wakestock and many many more.
Here’s a peak at something that is literally bringing me tears of joy just thinking about:

Olympic Island: $49.50 June 19th
This is the show that started it all for me. Pavement, Broken Social Scene, Band of Horses, and Timber Timbre are on the billing. It’s going to be a great day of mellow jams.

Warped Tour: $49.50 July 9th
I have actually never been to Warped Tour. I would’ve loved to have gone during the days when they were held in Barrie’s Molson Park. These days it’s held at Arrow Hall. However the line-up will be massive, Alkaline Trio, Motion City, Paramore, and on and on. The video is the one that made me initially love the Warped Tour.

Osheaga: $120. July 31st and August 1st
Half of the charm is the bands, and the other half is that it’s in Montreal. It sounds like the best road trip ever. Montreal is the hipster capital of Canada. Oh, and there’ll be French accents and poutine aplenty. Arcade Fire, Weezer, Pavement, Metric, Stars, and Devo are top billing, plus many more.

Wakestock: 3-day passes start at $55 August 6th to August 8th
Public Enemy and Alexisonfire… I think there’s also wakeboarding and hot tubs.

Coachella:
Odds are you didn’t go. But the line-up read like your iPod plus my iPod. Jay-Z, LCD Sound System, The Gorillaz, MGMT, and then about another 300 bands. All played over 3 days.

But yea, what shows are everyone pumped about?!
