French Rockers with a Shocker Polaris Win

Alt-rock indie French sensations, Karkwa won the Polaris Music Prize last night. And good on them. The first time a Francophone album (a solid one at that) has taken home a 5-year-old Polaris Prize. The album, Les Chemins De Verre (The Glass Paths), is probably something that you haven’t heard, but TRAVIS actually received the album a couple months ago and adores it. Absolutely adores it. It was a good night, but the mainstreamers — Broken Social Scene, Tegan and Sara, Owen Pallet et al. were sidelined last night.
